Today, as every year, we remember, and I don't even pretend anymore, I don't even try to shake the feeling, like shaking the dust off of you if you had been there. Even the dust itself is sacred. This past year I was at Ground Zero for the first time, and I am glad I saw it this way. I remember in my early 20's I visited the very spot with a group of my co-workers from a camp in northern NH. We had driven through the night to visit one girls family outside NYC, and to spend our Saturday off in the city, walking. We were poor Camp workers, not enough money to take a cab, or eat at a nice place, or even sight-see like some might. But, we had good walking shoes, time to kill, youth, and a spirit of adventure, so we walked the city, ate from food carts, one Chinese place, and even took pictures with the NYPD. We saw the towers, how big they were, and marveled at their presence, we came into the subway station under them, never imagining some...

Never Forget

My brother, Father, and now Brother in Law all serve or have served in the military, so it hits close to home, but i hope this day hit EVERYONE close to home. Never forget what we are blessed with!

Where were you then? ....... Where are you now?

I was at work, just like any other day, The strange stories that i heard from customers, co-workers, and finally my mom. You know, in crisis, call MOM! The things i heard were NOT adding up, did NOT make sense. it could NOT BE HAPPENING!! Well, it did. We are not as safe as we think. We are not invincible. We are human, and frail. In a moment, in the twinkling, our life can change. Mine did, suddenly, all my cool Army guys, were now going to war. Everyone i loved feel too far away. Everything i LOVE about the USA was even more precious. So without going on and on and on about the terror, the horror, the moments we all remember like they were yesterday, I want to ask a Question. Where are you now? What did you learn? What do you see 6 years later? I see a cloudy tuesday, so unlike the one we all remember, almost seems fitting. I see my faith as SO vey nessasry to survive in these times. I see my freedom as precious, and not something we will always enjoy, unless we are willing ...

I remember

That morning, i was at work. I worked in the sporting goods department of my local Sears store. It was myself and one other person that day, and it was SLOW. We couldn't belive that not one person was shopping today. My co-worker, Emilio, called his girlfriend while i cleaned off the excersize equipment. Then he said the strangest thing. "Im going over to electronics, something on the news about the world trade center falling, or another bomb or something." How odd, I remember the last ime the WTC got bombed, that was kinda scarry, not as bad as the Oklahoma city thing i had thought, but how sad if that was true. Maybe i should call my mom? "Hi Mom, are you okay? I heard that something happened in Ny?" I couldnt understand why my mother was crying, she was so lost ... not talking .... then i heard ..... "Oh my GOD! Sara have to go" Thats when i ran, I ran to electronics, my first thought was, huh, this is where everyone is. EVERYONE, employees, c...
5 years, innocent people working hard .. maintaining livleyhoods, innocent people flying aircraft, going to see family .... working hard at defending our country ..... senselessly KILLED with no reason, no provacation ..... in the middle of a beautiful September day. I will remember the pain, the terror, the feeling of vulnerability. The knowledge that I would have many soldiers going to war out of my circle of friends ....... and the immediate feeling of PATRIOTISM ....... of wanting to wear our colors and scream U.S.A!! I WILL NOT let that fervor die. we should be PROUD to live here, PROUD of our freedoms PROUD of our duty to other to help them find those same freedoms. I am PROUD to be an A M E R I C A N .
