Brainwashing ....

Ooh deep! Well, not really, but maybe. LOL. I was just thinking on my was home today about music, and how much I love it, and crave it, and thrive or wither under it's influence. This month is a tough one for me, from past experience and recent events, people lost at this time of year, and events that changed me ... I tend to get introspective, withdrawn, and frequently dip back into the depression mode for a while. I know it's coming, I try to ward it off, but somehow, it just always surprises me. Music soothes the soul! Brainwashing, where was I going? Ah yes, I am a firm believer in GOD, I do things in my faith walk now, not because I should, not because it is 'godly' or 'Christian' or even expected of me, but because I believe God wants me to, I believe that in an effort to give my kids a home that speaks His name, does His will, and wants to follow Him for Life, I need to have some 'brainwashing' going on. Lemme splain, :) TV ... growing up, (well i...

Never Forget

My brother, Father, and now Brother in Law all serve or have served in the military, so it hits close to home, but i hope this day hit EVERYONE close to home. Never forget what we are blessed with!

like a warm blanket ......

so, it's been icing and raining and miserable all day long, and night has fallen, in more ways than one, and as i looked up from my cleaning ( a Varnadore thing we have decided) i saw snow. Big fluffy white flakes of snow. Falling lightly to the ground, covering the ugly slush and ice and making the cold outdoors look very comfortable. God is so good, He sends us just what we need, right when we need it, Like a warm fuzzy blanket :)

A song for my Nana .....

One of my personal favorites, and it came to me today, this is now her song too. by (Jars of Clay) "Love Song For A Savior" In open fields of wild flowers, she breathes the air and flies away She thanks her Jesus for the daises and the roses in no simple language Someday she'll understand the meaning of it all He's more than the laughter or the stars in the heavens As close a heartbeat or a song on her lips Someday she'll trust Him and learn how to see Him Someday He'll call her and she will come running and fall in His arms and the tears will fall down and she'll pray, "I want to fall in love with You"

59 things My Mother taught me.

My Mum is having a birthday soon. On Sunday in fact, (along with my twin nieces out west).I would like to commemorate the occasion by listing some of the unique things i learned from her over the years. For no specific reason *giggle* I chose 59 as the magic number. #59 --- Closets! The first thing to look for in a house is ample CLOSETS!(we lived in a salbox style farmhouse for 9+ years, three bedroom, and 2 closets. TWO, one little one in Mom's room, one little on in the hall Ghastly!) #58 --- For goodness sake, learn to laugh at yourself. Life has too many potholes, must have some smiles! #57 --- A clean home is a quiet home, pleasant, and calm. ( that's the theory anyway, we constantly strive to reach that goal!) :) #56 --- Nothin' says lovin' like somthing from the oven! #55 --- Embrace Your femininity. Embrace your Masculinity. In this time of fuzzy gender lines, and the breakdown of marraige, Mom has always been very good at showing us ho...

musings

First, dorky i know, but it IS kinda fun that I'm the only single word LINKAGE on Muddah's blog :) Secondly, fall is finally here, and I am happy with the cool weather VERY happy! Third, i may be addicted to popcorn, and now i know how to make it in a pan on the stove (much quieter) bad news dude! Lastly, but the more important of things i've been musing over lately. Lots of soul searching, looking back, looking forward, checking my brain waves and all that fun stuff. Last night i went to pick up my hubby from our local airport. Nothing to brag about, but great fun for the little ones. As they frolicked about in the cold clear air of a fall night, they laid in the grass at the base of the gi-normic spotlite and looked up, ooohing and aweing at the size and coolness of it, and i was struck suddenly. By a memory, one i hadn't visited for a long while, a cool night, unlike this one, it was foggy VERY foggy. My mom and i were on the way to the local airport, to meet my dad...

The Solid Rock

I have much to say, i have few words, i am somewhat lost. My Mom let me borrow a great CD. It is AVALON "Faith: A Hymns Collection" I highly recommends it! Although our childhoods in a certain odd church comes with tons of hair raising, eyebrow lifting, snicker snicker ha ha, stories, one thing remains. We were brought up with Hymns, and they stick! And thank goodness. Read these words and I hope they Encourage some weary hearts. :) 1. My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. * Refrain: On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand, All other ground is sinking sand. 2. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil. 3. His oath, His covenant, His blood Support me in the whelmin...

Rag Dolls

You know, life is funny. God never promises we will be beautiful, or age gracefully, or even age at all in some cases, BUT He does promise to hold us every step of the way, if we let Him. Sometimes, kinda feels like we are rag dolls. No less beautiful, just older, wiser, and softer. Just a thought i wanted to share, to anyone feeling beaten up, forgotten, alone, or just plumb tuckered out, God Loves his little Rag Dolls with a LOVE that passes all understanding. Yay GOD! :)

Generations

Well, i've had this video banging around in my head for a while now, since i started that other blog of mine. These are the songs that inspired the blog, (that and the fact that David didn't know we went to Florida once LOL) So here is my Generations video, tissues may be needed for anyone who knows the people involved. *lol* Oh, and i put the first story up on the new blog, also, anyone who has a story to share with the rest of us, send me an email with your blogger-email-addy, and i will add you on to the list so you can post :)

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

Several years ago i pegged that as my life verse, my chief ambition. My lifelong goal is to stand before my Saviour in Heaven and hear the words, "Well done, my good and FAITHFUL servant." So, my trip to blue field West Virginia with 16 teenagers, was in fact life changing. In very small ways, but very cool. I now have Fan girls LOL! and i love them dearly, a gaggle of jr high gigglers have claimed me as their own. They run up to me in church and hug me and say good morning and are really happpy to see me, they even went to the Sunday school director and suggested he "fix it" so Mrs Doenges is the Jr High teacher in the fall. Heeheehee so cute :) I learned new ways to be a servant. I also liked that we took upon ourselves as a team to be the servants of the week. We were last in line to eat first in line to help, my little team was the fastest dinner crew of the week! I learned that most of the time teenagers are LOUD for NO GOOD Reason, and can get on nerves almost...

"All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go.........."

What DOES one week of mission trip look like all packed up? There ya go .... the black bag is my air mattress, the whits bag is my van food. You gotta get a jump on those teens and their junk food cravings or they'll be begging you to stop before we hit the Vermont state line. :P i told my passengers i DON'T stop ..sucks to be in my car! mwaahahahahahahaaa!! Anywhoooo, the pink NEW LLBEAN bag is my duffle. We are only allowed one bag really on the trip, so this thing has ALL my stuff in it, TEVA's, clothes, toiletry bag, and so on. Then the Fabulous Striped Tote that is also NEW and SOOooooo cute, is for all the stuff i need at hand. Water bottle, camera, bible notebook, ll sorts of stuff, and my wallet. If you look close, the wallet is OLD. :) I got that for my trip to Florida in .... 198??5?6 maybe?? lol ... Sooo anyway, im gonna go put this stuff in my VERY cool rental van, with stow and go, and power sliding doors, yuh, i got the posh car heeheheee. For anyone wondering...

Everybody needs the same Jesus

Yes this weekend was a whirlwind, with Easter, being such a huge holiday for me ... and the fact that sunday was full of food and family all congregating on my house all day long. :) But it was more than that .... this weekend has sent me into this train of thought that is most cool, so i hope i can share it without muddling it all up. This time of year my mind tends to drift back several years to a spring i dont much talk about or address. Not that i have it crammed down inside of me and it hasn't been dealt with, i just don't like to "play that card" unless it's really necessary. I am pretty sure that whole thing is in the 2nd or 3rd post of my blog. This weekend, i have dealt with the death of a friend i met online, a saint in every aspect really. An innocent child, who loved her Jesus so intently she knew her angels name, and would tell us about it, and about how excited she was to go meet her Saviour, and how she hoped we wouldn't cry too long, but know...

Thank God it's Friday!

no really! If Not for this particular Friday, we'd all be doomed! All minor calendar details and such aside, Christians of our century as a whole agree that today is Good Friday, the day we celebrate Death. I'm making Easter bread today, as is tradition in the Doenges Family, and as Mom D. pointed out, she always makes it on Good Friday, as a reminder of the day, since the bread must rise once, get beaten down, then RISE AGAIN. =D cool huh? Thank God for this day! Happy Easter to you all!
